Re-Key in Jamaica Estate Queens

To ensure that we met most of the conditions the client had given us, we started by removing all
the locks that were in a bad shape and replaced them with new locks. We systematically carried
out this exercise because we wanted to meet all the requirements. After two hours, we had
changed all the old locks but we left hose that were not in a bad state.
The next task we embarked on was to rekey the locks so that they could be opened by one
master key. We re-configured all the locks one at a time to make them fit one of the keys we had
targeted to use as a master key. We understood the desires of the client; he was not prepared
to carry a huge bunch of keys around. After configuring the tumblers, we took the key we had
targeted and made a series of notches on it to match the shafts of a pin tumbler and the pins. We
cut a pattern which matched the patterns on the pins. We worked on all the locks until we were
sure that it could open the new locks and the few old locks that had remained. Our client asked
us to make 6 copies of the master key we had cut. He distributed the five keys to his daughter
and relatives who lived a few blocks from his house. This was to ensure that he didn’t spend

another night out in the cold if he lost the key.
